We hold for the long term
We buy companies to own them. Decisions are made for the next decade of the business, not for a sale in five years.
Privately held · Long-term ownership
Jammy American is an independent holding company. We buy established, well-run businesses from the people who built them, then own and invest in them for the long term. There is no fund behind us with a clock running and no planned exit.
Current status
Jammy American is in its founding stage and is looking for its first company. We say that plainly because an owner considering a sale should know exactly who they are speaking with.
These are the terms we hold ourselves to with every owner we speak with, before any numbers are discussed.
We buy companies to own them. Decisions are made for the next decade of the business, not for a sale in five years.
Your name, your people, and the reputation you earned with customers remain intact. We add resources; we don't replace what works.
A full sale, a partial sale, or a gradual handover. We shape the structure around what the owner and the company need, including liquidity for the seller.
Earnings go back into equipment, people, and capacity. Over time we expect to add complementary companies that make each business stronger.
Deal sourcing and acquisition work are our core skills. We research industries ourselves and approach owners directly, quietly, and on their schedule.
The person you first meet is the person who makes the decision and stays involved after closing. There is no hand-off to a committee.
A company that took forty years to build deserves an owner who is thinking in decades, too.
Most buyers of private companies are funds with a fixed life. They need to sell what they buy, usually within a handful of years. We set Jammy American up differently so that the question of when to sell never drives the decisions that matter on the shop floor.
Every buyer has a structure, and the structure decides a great deal about what happens after closing. Here is ours next to the most common alternative.
| Jammy American | Typical fund-backed buyer | |
|---|---|---|
| How long we own it | Indefinitely. We have no scheduled sale. | Usually a planned hold of several years, followed by a sale. |
| Who decides | The principal you meet, directly. | An investment committee, often far from the business. |
| The company's name | Kept. Its identity is part of its value. | Sometimes folded into a larger platform brand. |
| Where earnings go | Back into the business and its people. | Often toward debt service and returns before exit. |
| Owner's role after sale | Your choice: stay, advise, or step away on a timeline you set. | Set by the buyer's plan, sometimes with little room to adjust. |
Owners come to a sale for different reasons: retirement, succession, a partner's exit, or a wish to take some value off the table while staying involved. We can structure around each of them.
Every situation is different, but this is the general order. You can stop at any point, and everything you share is kept confidential.
An informal discussion about your company, your goals, and what you want for the people who work there. No documents are needed.
Under a confidentiality agreement, we review basic information and visit in person. We want to understand how the work actually gets done.
We put our view of value and structure in writing, with plain explanations of how we arrived at it, so you can weigh it on your own terms.
A focused review of finances, operations, and legal matters, run to keep disruption to your team as low as possible.
After closing, the work of ownership begins: supporting management, reinvesting, and building on what you started.
We focus on businesses whose value comes from skill, equipment, and long customer relationships. If yours is close but not an exact fit, we would still like to hear from you.
Many of the best companies are never put up for sale. Their owners are busy running them, and they talk about the future only with someone they trust.
Finding those companies is our core skill. We study industries closely, identify businesses that fit how we want to own, and reach out to owners directly. We are patient. A conversation can run for years before both sides are ready, and that is fine with us.
We also welcome introductions from business brokers, bankers, attorneys, and accountants who represent owners looking for a long-term buyer.
